4 Ways to Protect Your Windows from Intrusion

There are many ways to make your home more secure against burglary and intrusion. One area that is very important to think about regarding home security is the windows on your home. Window can be used by intruders to get inside your home. They are easier to break down than doors, and in many cases they are also unprotected. In order to prevent intrusion through the windows of your home, there are a lot of safety measures you can take.

Window security film

Window security film reinforces the glass in the windows and makes them more difficult for potential burglars to break. However, the main functionality of security film is to hold pieces of glass together in case someone where to break it. This makes it difficult for burglars to get through the window. It also gives you more time to call the authorities, as the intruder needs to remove the film to get rid of the glass after they've broken it.

Laminated glass

You could also opt for changing your window panes for laminated glass, which is glass that is reinforced with vinyl. This type of glass forces the intruder to strike the glass repeatedly to get it to crack. This creates a lot of noise that will notify you in good time when someone is trying to break in to your home. If the burglar doesn't use any tools they might not be able to break the glass at all. You could also combine this type of glass with window security film to make it even more secure.

Window bars

If you wish to add an extra layer of protection for your windows, you could also invest in getting window bars for your windows. These structures prevent burglars getting through your window even if they were to break the glass. Bars are also visually deterring for burglars. If you're worried about how bars make your home look, you should also know that there are plenty of decorative options when it comes to window bars that you can choose from to avoid making your home getting prison like features.

Window alarms

You could also install window alarms in the windows of your home to alert you if someone is trying to break or open the windows. There are many different types of window alarms, but you should consider the type which only needs a sensor to be installed in the windows themselves that sends information to a wireless receptor somewhere else in your house. This makes it more difficult for potential intruders to turn them off, as sensors are small and difficult to reach.
